- Physical & Mental: Excellent physical condition. Does not tire easily and plays well under conditions of fatigue. Mental toughness is a real plus.
- Ball Skills: Handles the ball well along the perimeter and in traffic. Must work on strengthening his left hand skills. Has good court vision – passes to his teammates’ strengths and is able to set them up with high percentage shots.
- Offense: Excellent ability to get inside the lane and either set up a teammate for a high percentage shot or finish at the rim – is able to finish in traffic or get to the free throw line. Possesses a consistent ability to knock down the 15-17 foot jumper from the top of the key. However, must develop shooting range to the three point line – did not attempt a 3 pointer throughout the camp. Also, work on quicker release on jump shot – has trouble getting his jump shot off when closely guarded.
- Rebounding: Average rebounder or his height and position.
- Defense: Excellent on ball pressure forces opponent into turnovers or bad shot selection. Be sure not to get lost on help side defense or defensive rotations.
- Game Knowledge: Continue to work on understanding the rules and style of international play…has international experience at a low level, but must continue to work on thriving in a structured system.
- Strengths: On the ball defensive pressure. Ability to get to the rim and finish in traffic. Passing to his teammates strengths. Quickness – very quick on both ends of the floor. Spot up jumper from 15-17ft.
- Opportunities for Improvement: Gets lost mentally sometimes on offense and only looks to create his own shot at times – must avoid these lapses and work off of teammates and get them more involved. This forces bad shot selections at times. Must develop a consistent outside shot out to 23ft.
- Overall Comments: Joshua is a very quick point guard. He sometimes gets lost on the offensive side mentally, and looks at only creating his own shot. When he does get his teammates more involved, good things happen. In order for Joshua to play on the next level, he must develop a shooting range past his current 17ft.
